Implementation & Support
A practical approach to introducing continuing competence governance
Specialist technology, supported by an experienced professional-development team.
Introducing a new continuing competence system should not require your L&D team to redesign every process or take on a substantial additional administrative burden.
Fresh works with firms to establish appropriate arrangements, introduce Unity: Solicitor and support its ongoing operation.
Our approach combines system implementation with practical managed services.
1. Understanding your existing arrangements
We begin by discussing how your firm currently supports and manages continuing competence.
This includes understanding relevant responsibilities, existing development processes, reporting requirements and the role of your L&D team.
The aim is to establish a workable approach that reflects your firm’s circumstances rather than impose unnecessary complexity.
2. Configuration and preparation
Unity: Solicitor is configured to support the agreed arrangements.
This includes relevant organisational information, user roles, governance processes, reporting requirements and administration responsibilities.
Fresh works with the firm to prepare the system for introduction.
3. Onboarding and introduction
We support the introduction of Unity: Solicitor to the firm’s solicitors and relevant management users.
The focus is on helping individuals understand the continuing competence process, their responsibilities and how to use the system.
We also establish the practical arrangements for support and administration.
4. Ongoing administration
Fresh Managed Services can undertake agreed administration and support activities associated with the operation of Unity: Solicitor.
This helps reduce the routine workload falling on internal L&D teams.
The precise division of responsibilities is agreed with the firm.
5. Monitoring and follow-up
Unity: Solicitor provides management information and exception reporting to identify matters requiring attention.
Fresh supports the agreed monitoring and administration processes, while the firm’s designated personnel retain responsibility for decisions and interventions requiring internal professional or management judgement.
6. Reporting and review
Relevant reporting supports the firm’s ongoing review of its continuing competence arrangements.
Fresh can assist with the preparation and administration of agreed governance information, helping the firm identify outstanding actions and areas for improvement.
Managed services and client administration
Unity: Solicitor is being introduced with Fresh-administered support for agreed governance and administration activities.
A self-managed client administration portal is planned for a later development phase.
Firms that prefer to undertake more administration directly will be able to discuss the available options as the platform develops.
In the meantime, Fresh provides the agreed managed administration arrangements.
Support that fits the firm’s responsibilities
Fresh provides practical support, but the firm remains responsible for its continuing competence arrangements and associated regulatory obligations.
Individual solicitors remain responsible for maintaining their own competence.
Our role is to help make the supporting processes easier to implement, administer and review.
